Newton-Le-Willows Locksmith FAQs
Are you a locksmith based in Newton-le-Willows?
Absolutely – our family home is based on Wargrave Road on the Earlestown side of Newton-le-Willows meaning we are well-placed to serve the whole town and beyond. We’re not a big call-centre or corporate outfit – we’re a family run locksmith and proud of it.
Are your locksmiths available 24/7?
We certainly try to be, however we are a family run locksmith and as such have our own commitments. Our phone is always on though, night or day and if we are able to come out then we make every effort to be so.
Will you damage my door or lock?
We specialise in non-destructive methods of locksmithing, including for gaining entry. However, depending on the complexity and condition of your lock we can’t always guarantee results without using so-called destructive techniques.
However, they are a last result.
As for your door, uPVC doors especially are made of flexible stuff and any technique we use shouldn’t leave much of a mark.
That being said, locksmithing sometimes gets messy and force must be used. If we suspect the technique we need to use may cause some damage, we will explain it beforehand so you can make an informed decision to proceed.
Are you insured?
We are a fully insured locksmith service including public liability.
Do you have terms and conditions?
Of course: read our Terms and Conditions
Are your locks insurance approved?
This is a big question that mostly depends on your insurance policy and what is suitable for your door.
Most uPVC and composite doors feature a multi-point lock mechanism, which many insurance companies treat as insurable with our without a kitemarked British Standard eurocylinder fitted to them.
This means that many of the homes across Newton-le-Willows do not have British Standard eurocylinders fitted.
However, our professional standpoint is that not all insurance companies will accept this and having a non-british standard Eurocylinder fitted does expose you to more risk from breakins as they are not hardened to many of the most common burglary techniques usesd.
Thats why we also stock 1* and 3* high security cylinders. When we see that you are using a non-british standard eurocylinder we will always raise the issue with you and offer to fit something more secure that is more likley to be accepted by your insurance company.
Do I need to prove I have the right to access the property?
Yes – we reserve the right to ask for proof that you own or have legal access to the property before we do anything, including gaining entry on your behalf.
This could be photo driving license, utility bills or a tenancy agreement.
We understand that in some cases, it can be difficult to show that on the door. Thats why we offer a 5-minute grace period once entry has been gained for you to provide proof of your right to access the property. Please note that if you are unable to do this, we may call the police.
How much does an emergency locksmith cost?
We don’t have a callout charge, so bringing us out to a job where we simply quote up or don’t do anything doesnt cost you anything at all (that includes the rare occasions where we aren’t able to get you entry into your property).
After that the minimum work charge is £55, with gaining entry prices starting at £80. You can see our full Emergency Locksmith Price List here
What brands of lock do you stock?
I’d love a van that was bigger on the inside – that way I could stock every lock or mechanism imaginable!
Sadly, it would have to be as big as a warehouse to do that.
Fortunately, most locks around Newton-le-Willows are the same old brands, including Yale, Ultion, Asec, Versa, Union, Era, Kendrick and handful of others.
For this reason, I keep a good stock of the most common brands to have them ready.
In the occasional event I don’t have what I need, I keep Overnight Locks on standby to secure your property overnight while I work with my suppliers to get what you need pronto!
How do I pay?
Payment is due immediately after the work is completed. You can either pay in cash if you have it, card/contactless there and then, or alternatively you can send money via a bank transfer.
